"Not that much of a walk but a lot of value for money"
Stayed here for a night during the Easter weekend, as we were going to a rock concert in the Palladium (25 minutes walk from the hotel). If you drop the tram connection from the main U-Bahn station at Wiener Platz, you are still only looking at a 10 minute walk. The neighborhood doesn't look too touristy but it isn worth a wander around, with lots of Turkish restaurants and cafes down the nearby Keupstrasse.
Impeccably clean rooms, very polite and courteous staff, free Internet in the lobby and on top of that, chocolate easter bunnies for all guests and tons of chocolate eggs all over the place. Very comfortable and if back in Cologne would no doubt return.

"excellent hotel"
stayed 3 nights end of october, on main road but thanks to double glazing noise not a problem in our front facing room, room was impeccably clean staff friendly and helpful and a good breakfast.
10 minute walk to weiner platz u ban station and a 10 minute tram ride into the city, if you fly into cologne get the train into cologne 2.10eur and get the u ban out to weiner platz and save yourself the taxi fayre.

"Clean and Friendly"
VERY clean and friendly staff. I agree with other reviews, it is a little bit of a hike to the city center/DOM. Still, there always seemed to be a cab around since we Americans were too lazy to walk! The hotel was way beyond my expectation for the price. I would stay there again and recomened it to anyone who is happy with a clean, quiet room.

Best Western Premier Consul
The hotel foyer is tastefully decorated. Unfortunately I did not have a choice to select a non-smoking room on the internet, and they put me in a smoking room which smelt so bad that I had to request a non -smoking one and then they were hesitating whether they had a free one. The reception staff did not appear to be able to communicate in English or French fluently. This is an international hotel , after all. Well as for the chef in the restaurant.... We decided to have the buffet, I would say to anyone , don't , it was awful. The fish was dry and salty , with no other flavour. The desserts were just instant puddings , whisked up and camouflaged to ressemble various mousses. I am not sure that the area was all that safe for women on their own, and I could not get a direct answer from the reception. |

"Quiet Hotel"
A great hotel from the slightly different to your average hotel room down to the lovely breakfast. Not far from the city centre, zoo, cable car but far enough. Would definitely recommend to others and stay there again.

"Best service we had anywhere in Germany"
This hotel is a bit far from the center of town, but you will have a hard time finding the same kind of accomodations and service for a comparable price. When we checked in, a friendly receptionist went out of her way to meet our special wishes by showing us three different rooms. We chose a room on the quiet side of the hotel which was air-conditioned (most of the rooms are not; ask for it when booking). Rooms are nicely furnished, contain mini-bar, hair dryer, laptop access, private safe etc. Service - from reception to housekeeping to restaurant - was by far the best we had in any German hotel during our three week long trip. Spacious lobby with two different seating areas, nicely appointed restaurant, convenient underground parking. A generous hot and cold breakfast buffet was included in our low room rate. An adjacent park provides ample opportunities for walking and jogging. Brewery restaurant and a big supermarket right next door. Next time we visit Cologne, we won´t even bother to look up a different hotel. The Park Plaza is perfect.
