"Jolly Hotel Media Park has great rooms and bathrooms"
Jolly Hotel Media Park has great rooms and bathrooms, pointedly an Italian place in Cologne; perfect air condition, very nice breakfast, etc. The negative part is that this hotel is just outside central Cologne, and to get anywhere on foot is too far.

"about 15mins walk from the centre of town "
Jolly Hotel Media Park is about 15mins walk from the centre of town (station/cathedral), though I enjoyed the walk! Some of the restaurants around by the hotel are very good.
Rooms were nice size, clean, though a colleague in one of the back rooms can be affected by noise from the railway nearby. However, I did not get the best of sleeps here. TV had selection of European channels.
Breakfast was very good, though did get very busy around 8am, when tables in the bar area were also used - service during breakfast time was a bit hectic, and ability to move around the buffet areas was limited (with narrow gangways).

"Excellent hotel with helpful staff"
The hotel was a well maintained hotel in a great location. It is not in the heart of the city but is short walk from the U-Bahn station which is a couple of stations from the Dom and the Central Station. The media park is beautiful and has good shopping, cinema and eating places nearby.
The hotel is great value for money and has the facilities of a business hotel. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast included with the room was sumptuous. All in all, it takes any hassle out of staying in Cologne.

"Jolly Hotel"
For the price of 45 British pounds per night this hotel was outstanding.
Fair enough, it is not in the middle of Cologne, but is a pleasant 15 minute walk from the Cathedral.
The rooms and beds are massive compared to some of the hotels I've stayed in around the world. Bathrooms were big and spotlessly clean and the staff were friendly.
Breakfast was amazing and came in the form of a buffet of all the continental stuff including smoked salmon followed by a cooked to order feast of eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms and much more. You could even have a glass or two of bubbly. The hotel is modern and spacious and the rooms at the front have a nice view over a man made lake and the city. It is situated about a mile from the centre but in the business district next to a cinema, restaurants and some shops. I loved this hotel and thought it unbeaten value for money wise.
I would not hesitate to stay here again.

"best Cologne hotel in its category, but very bad location"
This is a superb Jolly hotel, high-end ****. Great rooms and bathrooms, pointedly an Italian place in Cologne (there are only two Jollys in Germany, and this is a very good **** Italian chain), perfect air condition (key this summer!), very nice breakfast, etc. The negative part is that this hotel is just outside central Cologne, and to get anywhere on foot is too far, and the neighborhood is not the best (upper "Ringe") for tourists. There is no really close-by subway station (there are some, but too far), Cologne is no city to drive with your own car (because of the new subway connection - don't even try!), and taxis are cher. But - if you don't mind that, this is an incredibly cheap hotel for the quality, certainly 50% lower than anything comparable in Cologne. As a hotel as such, highly recommended!

"Brand-new Business Hotel with all the extras"
The Jolly Hotel Media Park is obviously built as a business hotel - very good service with underground parking (16 euros extra), excellent cooked-to-order breakfast included and very large rooms with views of the man-made lake and the city skyline. Also, it's about 15 minutes walk to the Cologne Cathedral and other tourist sites. There's even free internet access (very unusual for a business hotel) at the lobby.
Would definitely stay here again.

"excellent & thoughtful service"
Have stayed here before but this time the hotel excelled themselves. Just after checking into our room, we realised that we had been robbed of our wallet, probably at the Messe station or Hansaring. The reception staff were excellent, phoning the police, a taxi to the police station and even loaning us 20 euros as we now had no cash for the taxi.
Aside from helping us with this drama, the hotel itself is really pleasant. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable. Even though they advise you that breakfast can be busy, it was fine. The location is good near to restaurants and the busy Friesenplatz nightlife.
Another nice touch were the single rose and bathsalts that arrived the next day, I presume to sooth our worries.
At 80 euros per room, bed and breakfast, at the weekend, this hotel is a very good deal.
