"Will stay here again!" Spent one night and was very impressed. The staff was the most friendly and helpful I have come by in a German hotel. The property is very nice and altough our room was on the small side it was very comfortable. The bar/resaurant and breakfast were excellent in every way. No queing for breakfast at all (served untill 11 a.m). The area the hotel is situated in is very nice. Lots of small bars and outdoor restaurants and a vibrant atmosphere. There are also several nightclubs in this area, if that is something that interests you. Although the nightlife is quite active in the area there was no noise in the room even though our room faced the street. The rooms appeared to be very well isolated. There was no noise from the neighbouring rooms either. Did not try the work out facilities, but it was open 24 hours, which of course is a big plus. We also stayed two night at the Koln Marriott, but was not very impressed. We definately preferred the Renaissance. I also feel that the Renaissance is in a much nicer area. The Marriott is located near the Dome, behind the main station, but the area felt deserted at night. Next time we are going to Cologne, we will definately be staying at the Renaissance!

"Fabulous Service!" I booked this hotel for a girls mini break in April. I can not praise the staff of this hotel enough, All requests that I made at the time of booking and just before our arrival were honoured (eg. joining rooms, champagne on arrival). The staff were on hand at all times to help and provide advice and even allowed us to have a late checkout (18:00) of 1 of our rooms with no extra charge. The rooms were were to a high standard and the buffet breakfast was fabulous. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk from the old town and is in prime location for all the nightlife of Cologne which we enjoyed! I would recommend this hotel to everyone, previously I have stayed at the Hilton in Cologne but I think this hotel is far better value for money.

"Absoloutely fantastic.............." Stayed at the Renaissance recently for 3 nights. First visit to Cologne and booked hotel on reading TripAdvisor reviews. Trip from Airport easy and about 20 mins ( 25 Euros ) - staff could not have been more helpful from start to finish,particularly Thomas who works in the cocktail bar, Alexander's - superb. Nothing much happens in Magnusstrasse but Friesenstrasse which runs parallel is great for bars and eating - easy walk to Alt Stadt and Cathedral area. Hotel was as near perfect as we have ever stayed in and would recommend without hesitation.Food in hotel restaurant ,Valentino's is also extremely enjoyable. Forget Chocolate museum and visit the City Museum (Zeugbaustrasse ) and EL DE house (Appellhofplatz 23-25 ) which from Dec 1935 until Mar 1945 was the office for the Cologne Gestapo - initially depressing but eventually fascinating history of emergence of Nazism and how it affected the city of Cologne. Great hotel - interesting city.
